October 7, 2006 Monthly Meeting
Meeting of the Fox Lake Property Owners Board of Directors held Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Town Hall, 9:30am. Absent Board Members: Doris, Debbie and Tim. Others present: Max Baum and Tom Labs. Meeting was called to order and reading of the minutes was dispensed with correction regarding Special Friends Outing, there were two shifts of pontoon boats. Motion by Butch, second by Tom, motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: Presented by Treasurer Lou Benter, she noted she’s moving some of our monies from Money Market into CD’s for more interest. Old grill salvaged and sheds condensed into one. Insurance savings from Ed’s research amount to about $150. There’s still one ad in newsletter unpaid, motion by Kirk/Ted, motion carried, it will be removed. Motion to accept by Dona/Bob, motion carried. Communications: Dona said Beverly Quast volunteered to be our “Membership Drive” person. The Secretary will supply her with newsletter over-runs and non-member name list for her to work with. All in favor, Dona will let her know. Fish Committee: Louie reported that DNR has fike nets out now and will electro-shock soon (for fish survey). Fish Committee will meet after this is done and report back to board with stocking/habitat recommendations. Tom Labs suggested an area for possible crib installations. Pig Roast: Lou had a formal report, we made $5,537.01 profit. Lou is now licensed for “food service” and may look into a “alcohol serving” license too, she’ll look into requirements. Should we continue the Pig Roast? Motion by Ted/Bob to continue, motion carried. We have some leftover soda from Pig Roast/SF Outing and will donate to the local Bethesda Home, Louie will contact Glen. Motion by Dona/Kirk to donate, motion carried. Bob Bergmann volunteered to be Pig Roast Volunteer Coordinator by confirming to them what times they will work, etc., we thank him for that. Tom said some people asked if we should change the date, discussion ensued, decision is tabled until next meeting…he also said he heard people might like Bingo or Sheepshead??? Lou suggested we use flyswatters instead of paddles for beer raffle, great idea, they‘ll not want to return them so will keep donating $1.00! The meat raffle went very well. Louie offered to pay $20 for jack wheel, we discussed he can have it free. Any Other Old Business: Dona reported “Thank You” letters have been mailed. Dona asked about the rolls of wire, they’re in shed and Krieser Construction has offered $75, after discussion decided “sell it”! Louie will let him know. New Business: Ed recapped “Survey Results”. The running themes are weeds control, fish stocking, carp removal…..also, what are we planning on doing with the funds we now have? Mention made that if we have to start paying for Carp removal, the funds will go fast. Also expressed interest in Library Expansion. It was discussed that Bill Kamp may not be carp fishing any longer. What will be our new project? Tom Labs thinks maybe we need to take a formal “position” regarding weeds or condominiums…..Ed thinks we can look into what that stance might be. Also mentioned maybe we should pre-post the Agenda. Louie thinks we should have rep going to Inland Lake and Town Board meetings and report back. Tom Labs thinks when this rep is at these meetings they can state the FLPO positions. Ed mentions if we’re going to put in the Newsletter that we’re going to support fishing/hunting, we’d have to vote no on weed cutting, poisoning….We all agree that it’s good that people answer the surveys, it gives us direction. We will table a vote on our position until next meeting, it will also be put forth in the newsletter. Tom Labs thinks the Concerts In the Park are great, maybe they could be extended two weeks and the FLPO could pay for that? We will put on agenda for next month. FISH CONTEST WINNERS: 12.5” Crappie, Roberta Vigdal and 12.5” Perch, Chris Frank. ANY OTHER NEW BUSINESS: None, motion to adjourn by Bob/Jim, motion carried. Next Month’s Meeting, Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 9:30am.
