Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Fox Lake Property Owners, Inc., Saturday, June 2, 2007, 9:30am at the Fox Lake Town Hall. Meeting was called to order by President Benter. Absent were Tim Meekma, Kurt Heckl and David Cross. There were 13 members in the audience and one guest. Last years Annual Meeting minutes were read. Motion to accept by Ted, second by Tom, motion carried. Annual Financial Report was presented by Lou Benter, balance including earmarked funds, $ 32,214.92. Motion to accept by Ted, second by Doris, motion carried. Old Business: Pig Roast 2006 profit was $5,537.01. Parade of Homes profit $1,700.00. Handicapped Outing total net expense of $502.11. Fish Committee: Louie reports we put in an order for stocking of Perch and Northern, 12,000 perch 4-7”, 600 northern 10-14”, which should be done in Fall. Louie went over the 2006 Fall Electro-Shock report. DNR has plans to stock Northern and Walleye however, the new VHS virus may affect these fish. Louie outlined this virus for us ending that this may dictate plans for stocking. New Business: Fireworks 2007, we gave $3,000. Motion by Ted, second by Lou to increase 2008 donation to $3,500, motion carried. Lifetime Honorary Member: Nominated were Gordie Ceskowske, Doris Rottman and Elizabeth Brenckle, Gordie won the nomination. Should we continue to send these forms out in the April Newsletter? Majority felt we should. Election of Board Members: Debbie Green, Dona Turgeon and Tom Mueller are willing to continue on the board. We still need to replace Kurt Heckl and Butch Wagner. Bill Knueppel has voiced willingness and was nominated by Ted, second by Deb Green, and he will ask his wife, Linda Knueppel if she’d be willing to fill the other. Lou nominated Linda and asked to close nominations, Deb seconded. Ted makes a motion to cast a unanimous ballot for those five people, second by Tom, motion carried. In the event Linda can’t, Butch offered to stay on if no one else fills it and Bev Quast would too, if Linda can’t. Concerts in the Park: Should the FLPO sponsor an additional concert for the 2008 series? Motion to sponsor an additional concert including cost of band and supplying the volunteers to park cars, etc., motion by Bob Bergmann, second by Tom Labs. Discussion: Gordie thinks a dollar limit should be set. Ted doesn’t want us to have to park cars. Deb said she would. Motion amended by Bob to include a cost limit not to exceed $1,000.00 and we will help staff, park cars, etc., second by Tom Labs, motion carried. Bill Knueppel and Deb Green wanted to have a say of which band, they were advised to join that committee and put their input there. Dona can advise Bonnie Skaar of this. Should FLPO become more politically involved? Ed wasn’t sure how to proceed since Tim Meekma is not present and he authored a letter regarding above (of which copies were passed around), co-signed by Louie Leizinger amongst others, so Louie explained. They have concern about the rate of condo buildings on the lake, concerned about green space and wonders how this can stopped/slowed down. Gordie voiced that within the by-laws of this organization we always avoided anything to do with politics, we’d have to change by-laws. He further explained the Fox Lake Inland Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District already does this. Ed believes Gordie is correct about the by-laws, how can we as a board decide what 300 other members feel about condos, etc. Condos are a property rights issue, people can do what they want with their property, approved by State, County and Town. Tom Labs wants to know which part of the by-laws states we cannot go to the Town Board….Ed said individuals can go, but as a group we can’t. Ted Kahlow said he also signed that letter…..he’s concerned about green space too. Bill Knueppel agrees about condos, it’s got to stop somewhere. Butch explained that the county has control over the 1,000 feet of the lake. Ted said we can go to the county too. Gordie reiterated change the by-laws if you want to do this. Bev Quast believes if FLPO truly represents all of the property owners around the lake, most of them don’t know how or why we represent them. Perhaps voicing these political concerns would increase attendance at meetings, she thinks someone should be designated to go to the Town Board meetings. Dona asks how many people attend the Town annual meeting? Ed reiterates her question and there were seven people there, including the board members, and that board IS politically active. Tom Labs still felt strongly about this, wants us more politically involved. Ed states we have to decide this issue, do the FLPO want to become more politically involved…..Bev Quast made a motion someone be designated to be a liaison between FLPO and Town Board, no second, motion died. Raffle tickets are still available for beef and gun, not many for gun, Lou wishes us to really push these for the pure profit. “Early Bird” Membership Drawing: Ralph Faja won a free 2007-08 membership. Any Other New Business: Gordie outlined the carp removal plans so far, Bill Kamp will fish under Doug Hunt’s license…..of carp removed so far, there are quite a few larger sized ones, perhaps Kallenback, a large commercial outfit, may return this year. Motion to Adjourn by Ted, second by Tom Mueller, motion carried.
